Hand & Wrist Diseases
The hand and wrist give you the ability to write, gesture, pick things up, play musical instruments, draw, use a computer , and more. These complex appendages are made up of bones, joints, and muscles working together.
Bone injury and diseases affect all parts of the hand or wrist. The wrist contains no fewer than eight bones, while the hand involves a system of metacarpals and phalanges (small bones of the fingers). Pain in the hand or wrist can be caused by crushing trauma, sports injury, or degenerative diseases like diabetes and arthritis.
02.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a condition that occurs when the median nerve is compressed in the wrist’s carpal tunnel, a narrow passageway surrounded by bones and ligaments. The main factor that contributes to CTS is increased pressure in the carpal tunnel.

04.
Cubital Tunnel Syndrome
Cubital tunnel syndrome happens when the ulnar nerve, which passes through the cubital tunnel (a tunnel of muscle, ligament, and bone) on the inside of the elbow, becomes inflamed, swollen, and irritated. Cubital tunnel syndrome causes pain that feels a lot like the pain you feel when you hit the “funny bone” in your elbow. The “funny bone” in the elbow is actually the ulnar nerve, a nerve that crosses the elbow. The ulnar nerve starts in the side of your neck and ends in your fingers.
05.
Osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease, in which the tissues in the joint break down over time. It is the most common type of arthritis and is more common in older people. People with osteoarthritis usually have joint pain and, after rest or inactivity, stiffness for a short period of time.
06.
Rheumatoid Arthritis
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a Chronic (long-lasting) Autoimmune Disease that mostly affects joints. RA occurs when the immune system, which normally helps protect the body from infection and disease, attacks its own tissues. The disease causes pain, swelling, stiffness, and loss of function in joints.
07.
Kienbock's Disease
Kienböck’s disease is a condition where the blood supply to one of the small bones in the wrist, the lunate, is interrupted. The lunate is a carpal bone. Bone is living tissue that requires a regular supply of blood for nourishment. It is breakdown of the lunate bone, a carpal bone in the wrist that articulates with the radius in the forearm.
08.
Carpal Instability
Carpal instability is an injury that occurs when the wrist can’t maintain its normal alignment and motion under physiological loads. This can happen when one or more ligaments or bones in the wrist are injured, such as from a fall on an outstretched wrist. The injury can cause the carpal bones to become misaligned and deranged, which can change the range of motion in the wrist.
